who calls these Stasi-indios ("informelle Informanten") holy who have
betrayed their own people?

MEXICO CITY - When Pope John Paul II gives Mexico its first Indian saint on
Wednesday, it will mark a helpful milestone in a sometimes painful
relationship between native peoples and the Roman Catholic Church, analysts
said.
None other than the pillar of the Mexican church, Cardinal Norberto Rivera,
said in a recent interview that sainthood for Juan Diego, an Indian who
lived 500 years ago, would help elevate the status of indigenous peoples
today.
Two other Indians are being beatified, a step toward sainthood, Thursday.
"I think this symbolic action by the pope of canonizing the first indigenous
person and beatifying another two is going to help their rights be
recognized, their dignity be appreciated, and [show] that their culture and
traditions have a place in our Mexico," he told the Mexico City newspaper El
Universal.

Dignity? I could vomit. The opposite is true. Only a German source seems to
reveal the hypocrisy of this old man:

los Angeles, handelt es sich um zwei Zapotec-Indios, die im Auftrag der
katholischen Kirche als informelle Informanten bei der Ausrottung
heidnischer Glaubensformen der Indios mithelfen sollten. Die beiden sind
nicht unumstritten: Dank ihrer Informationen über heidnische Zeremonien in
einem Indiodorf kam es im Jahr 1700 zu einer Razzia. Der kirchlichen
Überlieferung zufolge wurden die beiden Männer von wütenden Dorfbewohnern
«gepackt, gehängt und schließlich geköpft. Man schnitt ihre Körper auf, riss
ihre Herzen heraus und warf diese den Hunden vor». Die Strafaktion der
Kolonialverwaltung folgte: 15 Indios wurden geköpft und gevierteilt. Die
Seligsprechung gilt als Vorstufe einer eventuellen Heiligsprechung.
