I admit to being a nut on the subject (whenever names like Augustine, the
Christian neoplatonists, the Ontological proof, and Thomas Aquinas appear
my ears prick upbut) but I WAS impressed by the J. Bottum article. (not
the Scalia one) . The aricle was written from the point of view of a
believer which is not my pov but that's OK. The author seemed to be
competent on both medieval and modern philosophy. I do honestly think that
the varying Medieval Christian stances toward and away from reason and
rationalism are of great interest to us moderns struggling with
postmodernism. I think Otto might agree. Also Pynchon probably.
