There is something more important going on here than
the question of who is actually narrating- although it
seems like Wicks- or whether Dixon is being serious.
(He just might be.)
And that is the need to dominate and control, as becomes
clear after the Duck has been conned by the decoy and
relates the tale of her degradation by her maker, which,
ironically, seems to have led to her freedom.
Might be a veiled commentary on certain apocryphal
versions of our own original relationship with the forces
responsible for our creation.
