Right. It's not postmodern or deconstructive theories that are
especially anti-Christian, but rather the way in which you guys abuse
these to smash religion, and especially the Christian religion, more
specifically, of late, Catholics.

Turning to Pynchon's texts with both approaches exposes the very real
purpose for your
posts--your anti_Christian bias.

Out one side of your mouth you praise the postmodern-deconstructions of
P's texts, that is the **theory** you apply to it, attributes to the
author or the "text" the questioning (although both you and Jbor are
more prone to condemnation and not mere questioning when it comes to
Christianity) of traditional assumptions about certainty, identity, and
truth.

Out the other corner of your mouth you hold to the postmodern language
game that asserts that words can only refer to other words, that the
world, once thought about or given expression, is a text. Moreover, you
attempt (when convenient, even to ridiculous and absurd contradictions
and generalizations--usually when debating with Doug M.) to demonstrate
how statements about any text subvert their own meanings.

In addition, you argue that there is no meaning to be found in the
actual text, but only in the various, often mutually irreconcilable,
"writing of texts" (this is what we used to call reading) constructed
by readers in their search for meaning.

In addition, Jbor and yourself, use this "reader response" like hammer
to accuse readers of Pynchon's texts of having prejudices and
"world-views" completely at odds with what Mr. Pynchon espouses in his
texts.

Cheers,

T
