considering seriously, but I doubt that your
interlocutors are open-minded enough to entertain the
possibility that Pynchon is not prosyletizing a
so-called "PoMo" (which, some rather more open-minded
readers assure mem off-line, does not in fact
resembled the cliched and crippled version that is
generally bandied about in this forum), so defensive
are they, and unwilling to permit the questioning of
the premises of their their literary-critical
approach. If you don't agree with the fundameentals of
their argument a priori, they don't want to do
anything but slam you, and close down the
conversation.
