NP? Vineland (andf GR) echoes from a former (?) P-lister

The link I see to Vineland is that St. Clair writes
that Wright was investigated by the FBI for his
political activities, in the same IWW vein that runs
through Frenesi's faily.

The article's reference to Marlene Dietriech is the GR
echo I heard.

Before you go off too hard on St. Clair, I suggest you
read his book Whiteout.  It's a good one, and based on
the sorts of things you've posted here I think you
might enjoy it.
