You managed to find a connection without too much
trouble.  Pynchon puts great art into depicting the
way that humans clothe themselves in myths that tap
deep into the heart, in order to take advantage of one
another -- missionaries on their imperialists power
trip and colonists who reap the harvest of what the
missionaries have  sown.
