who the hell is Bruce Owens?

Has anyone seen themodernword.com? Quail added a section to pynchon's 
biography.

I have great respect for the quail, but I need some (if any) evidence that 
this isn't a hoax. The content (mention of Farrena, using Baedekker for 
scenes in Cairo) makes me think someone just opened the intro to slow 
learner and did some creative paraphrasing. But yet there does seem to be 
some instances where it does 'feel' like the old man (pie fights on the 
street, comment on mountain climber and urination, etc.)

If this is a spoof, I thought that sort of thing went out of fashion since 
pynchon is no longer in the headlines, if not, I am excited to perhaps get 
more insights via this Owen fellow.
