Re davemarc's count, it's worth considering that I'm
often responding to half a dozen people (or more) who
are addressing me in their posts.  It might be equally
accurate to say that a handful of P-listers  dominate
the discussion with posts about something I've said,
instead of finding another topic. Since I have no
control over what they do at their keyboards, they can
take responsibility for what they write, and I'll
worry about what I write.

If you want to talk about redundancy, there's the
question of people who re-post the entire message to
which they're responding, only to append a brief
comment at the end, a category to which I don't
belong.

Volume, I haven't taken the time to do a count of the
actual weight of posts, my own or others, but quite a
few people here regularly post long messages.
