That's OK, here's an out you can take:

But, from another point of view, you're "right" -- whatever that might mean
in this discussion. Whips (guns, V2 rockets,  etc.) don't hurt people,
people hurt people -- its a tool, to be used for ill or...oops.....good?

The whip doesn't "care" who uses it, or, put another way, struggling wth
the English here , amigo, it doesn't matter who uses the whip, as long as
the whip gets used.  (Whip as masochist!)

That's why -- maybe -- Dixon chooses not to use the whip here, but instead
only takes it away from the slave-driver, to prevent its further use, there
being no good use of such a Whip -- Dixon choosing to stop the cycle of
violence instead of continuing that cycle, the best way to use this tool,
this technology, being not to use it at all. IMHO.
