Gaddis and Pynchon

isn't it funny how a personal attack just isn't the same
when you can't post it to a whole bunch of people who
really couldn't care less about malignd berating doug,
or the other way around.  

i mean, they could keep this discussion private, and all
of the objectives of their comments would be fulfilled
because they don't pertain to anyone else who might
read them, but then there would be some ineffable 
wrongness we all might feel.
