You said you were going to stick closely to the text, and defined the text
as the words printed on the page. Then you said the words on the printed
page said that Dixon did not whip the driver. There are no words in the text
which say that Dixon did not whip the driver. There are no words that say he
did or did not whip the driver. Whether or not whipping took place is a
matter of interpreting something not put into words on the printed page.
