MDDM Ch. 72 Dixon and the slave driver

I was re-reading the passage and enjoyed how there is a discussion of horse
auctions and slave auctions, then, after confronting the slavedriver, Dixon
goes to the stable and gives an apple to his horse who ignores the offering
and sniffs around under his coat where a whip is stowed.
Reminded me of seeing the Anheuser-Busch Clydesdales in a barn recently and
my 14 y/o son making me look at the expression in their eyes.
