I am presently reading Moby Dick, which I think is somewhat of a "precedent" 
for both GR and MD.  I said it before, but this would be my choice.  If we 
were to do Pale Fire I'm afraid we might need Malign'd's commitment to stick 
around and participate/lead in the discussion.  I started it years ago, but 
never finished it.  It's wit is very dry and understated IMHO.  If I had 
persisted to the end I might have liked it as much as Malign'd does, because 
I love Nabakov generally.  Lolita is my favorite of his.
