I recognize that Rod Serling's "Twilight Zone" probably
began after the creation of TSR, in 1959, however, if
I had to attach an identity to the narrative voice of the
opening page- i.e., actually hear it in my head-
Especially the time contraction- zeroeing into/onto the
setting (and I mean targeted: Same, Same, Same!)
that's implied with the tense change:
This was Fort Roach, Louisiana, back around
mid-July of '57. Nathan "Lardass" Levine, specialist
3/C, has been assigned...
The Trinity divided by the universal speed limit, C, a little
flash of Gematria, was/is one of the first clues; the outside/
inside imagery another, that the "specialist" in this case might
be something other than what he seems.
I'm looking for something that ties together the spirituality
of Hebraic and Hellenic traditions, something at the core of
the historical dialectic- within the basement of that ol'
mansion we're trying to get back to- that became The West.
...that added "something" that might help explain the apparent
rise (I'll leave out the other side of the parabola for those
of you that seem so sensitive to gravity of late- We can
pretend we are still rising, if it suits you) and hegemony of
The West.
