idea that one can get back or go back to the past. 

Mindless pleasures and the tragic Present. Carelessly
and thoughtlessly Levine collects the dead bodies of
the victims of the storm and has sexual intercourse
with Little Buttercup. 

The Wandering Jew Future of getting back or going back
to the Past--identitiy of place. Levine goes back to
Roach (Benny yo-yo and "I didn't learn a G--damned
thing").
