Also, isn't frog die-off  one of the first symptoms of ecological disaster?  
So, with or without reference to Aristophanes, there is a potent symbolism in 
setting a sex scene against a chorus of frogs--both the act and the animals 
suggesting life will go on in neat contrast to the waters being filled with 
corpses earlier in the story.
