Yes and no:
I think he realizes the pitfalls of his own craft and exposes them for us all
to see in this intro.  Yet he keeps his course.  He adds all theses and other
overlays which WillZant has listed, and which Pynchon masters, as WZ (please
give us a shorter nickmame before I breach neme decorum) has also noted, in GR.

In this intro Pynchon reveals his ambition, and he mocks himself without
abandoning that which he mocks.  Hubris?  Maybe, but comming down from the trap
door of the wooden pony.
