The Online Etymology Dictionary says "dildo" is probably from Italian 
"deletto", pleasure. The OED, Merriam-Webster and yourDictionary.com 
list it as "of obscure/unknown origin". Its use must have begun in the 
16th century. I don't see why it should have anything to do with 
Daedalus. After all, he had more intricate things to construct...
