Has anyone noticed what the one Pynchon quote in Bartletts Familiar
Quotations (2002) is?
"Yet who can presume to say WHAT the War wants, so vast and aloof is it.
. . so ABSENTEE"
If anybody's forgotten it's in that Roger and Jessica chapter in which
they stop at the church on Christmas Eve. Top of p. 131.
Aristophanes gets lots of space in Bartletts including the frog chorus
used on the second page of Finnegans Wake.(forgot to check whether the
same gets used under the Joyce entry)
Brekekekekex koax koax (about like that)
