When I mentioned (a couple of years back) that there are thousands of
Dissertations that include work on Thomas Pynchon one of our senior
scholars quickly dismissed my statement with a wave of his hand. Well,
of course I'm a fraud and a pest, but I stand by that statement because
I've seen them  (not read them all) with my own eyes. Yup, I've read
some of your dissertations P-listers. There are dissertations on Pynchon
across the disciplines in the sciences and humanities. There are
Dissertations in progress that include work on Thomas Pynchon.  How good
is this stuff? Some of it is quite good. In fact, some of the best stuff
on Pynchon is in Dissertations. Some of them are not so good, some
include Pynchon but tell us little that is new, fresh, interesting.

Why did the chicken cross the road? 
Not for nothin but anybody dats anybody knows dat you gotta cross the
road and grease the palm or you ain't gettin nowhere in Krooklyn.
