Doubles or pairs, aspects of twins, are all over Pynchon's writings,
especially in GR. Cain and Able, like Enzian and Tchitcherine, are the
opposing or complimentary brother pair. Mason and Dixon are a similar such
pair. "Gemininity" allows for the author to explore the same subject from
different angles.
