Augustine certainly has his merits, but it's hard to forgive him for
introducing the concept of original sin into Christian theology, a doctrine
that continues to hurt people in so many different ways. Augustine also
firmed up the "just war" theology that so many so-called "Christian"
nations have used to rationalize the murder and butchery in their wars, all
the way down to the present war against terrorism.
