This is part of another message that is lost in the system... too long.
I don't know that Rev Cherrycoke's bit was read aloud to the room - that opening line by Ives may or may not be a response to what Wicks wrote in "Christ and History" imo. Perhaps it is what those in the room were discussing when Wicks came back from the little boy's room...
But if he did read it aloud, then why the elipses in the first sentence? Is our narrator shortening it for us?
