Like Benny Morris, I've come full circle on the Israel/Palestine issue
("calbert" & I debated onlist back in May 2001 under the thread "NP -
Palestinian Moderate Leader's Home Shelled"). Of course the Palestinians are
out-gunned, but they are relentless with an Easterner's long-range sense of
time. And I am beginning to believe that the majority, or at least a
controlling faction, do not wish to live in peace with Israel under any
circumstances. They should have their own autonomous state, but they seem
to want the whole pie.

Contrarily, the majority (and controlling faction) in Israel has shown that
they are willing to compromise for the sake of peace. But thus saying, I
still condemn Sharon for igniting this new uprising with his intentionally
provoking visit to that mosque way back when.

Can the US & EU force them to live in peace? Probably not while the Arabs
and Iranians continue to use the Palestinians as a lever to destroy Israel.
Should UN/EU/US occupy both lands as peace-keepers? That's sure to go over
real well with the Arab states.

>But the way it looks now is Israeli state terrorism. And those illegal
>Israeli settlers are crazy in my eyes exposing their children to such
>dangers.

Absolutely. And Israel should display their sincerity by immediately
withdrawing from all their occupational settlements (and giving the homes to
those they've made homeless).
