NP The Exorcist--a Greek Jesuit?

The other day I was stuck on the couch like a potato, couldn't move. The
Exorcist was on the Tube so I watched it. Of course I've seen it a few
times, never read the book, so  I was wondering about the priest, why a
Greek? Now I know that there are a few Greek Jesuits, but I was thinking
that either the author or the film maker decided a Greek would serve
some purpose but I couldn't figure it out.
