Franklin, from what even I know, was centrally involved in the movement
towards American independence. His first question to Mason is about Dixon's
Calvert connections. The Calverts were the ruling faction in Maryland,
across the border of the line that Mason and Dixon are about to survey, the
line which was to become the symbolic division between the Union and the
Confederacy in the Civil War a century hence. His motives are quite crucial
to the plot, the plot, and "the plot".

That's a shame. When I asked whether or not to continue with the reading
into this section I received about 15 replies, which is why I decided it was
worthwhile to persevere, so I think you have miscalculated. But,
nevertheless, it's your choice. Thank you for your responses to this point.
