Hallo, Otto, der franzosische Uebersetzer hat den selben Felhler wie der 
Typograph gemacht (es scheint). Oder gibt es ein Spiel Pynchons hinter hier 
?

Dear friends and Scholars,

I quote for you MD, chap. 28, p. 279 of the french translation : "Mason, 
reconnaissant cette citation tirée de saint Jean I:49, lâche un rire, 
tandis que Dixon s'empourpre." It seems that the German translator had a 
Bible on his table, while the French did'nt (loss of christianship had 
pretty bad effects in literature).
