Africa really is the Dark Continent!

Another interesting thing is that the way they've "flattened" the Earth
comes out like one of those old-fashioned world maps where the size of the
land near the poles is exaggerated out of proportion.  Looking at that photo
collage, which seems bigger to you, Greenland or Australia?

Oddly, and speaking of aesthetics, I've always thought that in this
projection the land masses were more pleasing to the eye than in the more
proportionate projections you see more now.
