Well, well, well, Inspector- I thought I was the only one who caught sight
of this bird- quite surprising! Nothing like The Tailor's tailor to help
straighten out the warp and woof, and keep that Rebel Weaver in check.
A thrush by any other name? Aye, and don't forget about a certain
ghostly St. Bernard with a taste for punch and punchlines. Probably
a continental pal of the LED, given their common predilections- not
to mention the gift of Gab... Neil always seemed to top The Topper.
I guess being a dog AND a ghost has it's advantages. Topper was cool,
though, never lost his head.

I can't believe this whole t.v. thread woven into the text at this
point. Typical of Pynchon, though, this being even closer, at least
temporally, to "Vineland." And, Cosmo and Damian are in the
entertainment biz, after all. Is he saying that entertainment
i.e., The Veery Bros, i.e., t.v., Hollywood, maybe even
novelists are potentially subversive? A counterforce? Never
know what secret messages are being coded into those
entertainments, I guess. Reminds me a little of... (Anyone
remember what THRUSH stood for?)
