Let's not be too hard on "fqmorris at hotmail.com" and Mackin-- it's
unfortunate they haven't yet been able to find a better way to contribute
to the Pynchon-L discussion than to worry about yet another annoying
anonymous emailer, but I think with the right kind of encouragement they
might decide to focus their posts on Pynchon for a change one of these
days. And, even if they don't, you have to admit they bring a lot of
laughter into our lives. I for one am grateful for their presence no
matter how childish -- I guess I just enjoy that youthful spirit of play,
even if it's misdirected from time to time. After all, you wouldn't scold a
puppy who hasn't matured to the point of knowing how to behave, you just
show her the better way and encourage that behavior with love and kindness.
Surely we can do the same for our Pynchon-L comrades. I know that
"fqmorris at hotmail.com" and Mackin are just doing the best they know how to
do, and that's good enough for me, bless their hearts.
