Good luck, my friend. Mackin and "fqmorris at hotmail.com" have argued for a
long time now that I'm any number of P-listers -- Dave Monroe, Barbara,
etc., even while carrying on separate offlist email exchanges with those
folks! Now that's funny, don't you think? I know it makes me chuckle every
time I think about it, and I wish you could see my smile right now. I
expect it keeps them out of greater mischief, so I'm glad they have this
little hobby (and I suspect they may even be pulling my leg with their
jibes, just trying to get a rise out of me, they way that little kids like
to do sometimes when they're bored and can't find anything better to do).
I continue to believe it is unfortunate that they choose to make this their
focus on Pynchon-L instead contributing to the discussion of Pynchon -- but
I know better than to hope for more than baby steps in that direction, I
just try to keep the faith that one day they will choose to focus on
Pynchon instead of on these anonymous email pests, and so forth.

I think the P-list regulars know I have never been shy about making some
fairly aggressive remarks here in the past, under my own name -- in fact,
that's one of the reasons I'm trying to keep things friendly these days,
too much time wasted with all that negativity. I understand that others,
like "fqmorris at hotmail.com", for some reason need to shield themselves
behind anonymous email accounts, and that's fine, too -- if that makes
somebody happy, that's good enough for me. Terrance (no stranger to the
email personae game, one which he seems to enjoy a great deal, bless his
heart) is right: Stick to the book. Ignore these anonymous pests --
present company excluded, of course ;)
