"Dixon, as a Needle man anxious to obtain the latest
Magnetick Intelligence of the Region that awaits them,
Rumors reaching him of a Coffee-House frequented by
those with an interest in the Magnetick, however it be
manifested, shows up one night at The Flower-de-Luce,
in Locust-Street." (M&D, Ch. 30, p. 298)

I don't get much of a chance to wander around in the
P-List archives, but every so often I stumble across

(here, some retyping, see above). E.g., from one Erik
Pohl ...

688.5-6 Flower de Luce

Flower de Luce could be considered less than 'fit for
purpose'. Henry Hedley of Limehouse, sailor
(40) told the Court [PRO. HCA.13/53, folio 323]:

The Flower de Luce about a month or five weeks
after her departure from England proved to be very
leaky ....

The artisans of the Middle Ages were very skilful in
the use of the lathe [...]. English mechanics seem
early to have distinguished themselves as improvers of
the lathe; and in Moxon's 'Treatise on Turning,'
published in 1680, we find Mr. Thomas Oldfield, at the
sign of the Flower-de-Luce, near the Savoy in the
Strand ...
