But when it comes down to it, German Enthusiasts,
German Enthusiasts of the Magnetick, Enthusiasts of
the German, Germans enthusiatic about whatever, points
is, GEs, QPs, LSs, WTs, even, all have some particular
reason to be among the Clientele of a Coffee-House
frequented by those with an interest in the Magnetick,
whatever that reason might be. That "German,"
however, is the interesting point here. Pietists,
packets, Leibniz, mystics, royals, later, Hessian
mercenaries, Prussian nationalists, National
Socialists, whatever ...
But I've been esp. interested in how Pynchon, M&D
shuttle betwixt the mid-to-late 18th century, the
late-twentieth century, and any all all points in
between (and, at times, before and possibly even
after). Hm ... I feel a song coming on ...
