"in amsterdam ist es bei der enthüllung des 'nationalen denkmals an die 
sklavereivergangenheit' in anwesenheit von königin beatrix und des amtierenden 
ministerpräsidenten kok zu lautstarken protesten von angehörigen der farbigen, 
antillianischen, arubanischen und surinamischen gemeinschaft gekommen. die feier 
am montag nachmittag im oosterpark war nur für geladene gäste zugänglich. als 
mehrere hundert nachfahren niederländischer sklaven versuchten, die absperrungen 
zu überwinden, wurden sie von zum teil berittener polizei auf abstand gehalten. 
dabei kam es zu kleineren rangeleien. die protestierenden wurden erst nach dem 
ende der zeremonie zu dem denkmal vorgelassen. die niederlande haben 300 jahre 
lang zwischen westafrika und amerika mit sklaven gehandelt."
