Okay, just checking in after a mere day and a half
away, and my inbox is filled to overflowing.  Knowing
full well that I'm not one for the short, sharp post,
I would however echo Murthy's periodic pleas that
posters only repost the posts of others to the extent
that there's a reason to, e.g./i.e., repost only that
to which you are immediately responding.  I do think
I've been conscientious in that regard, at least ...

That being said, anyone with any interesting info on
the Congo under Leopold, feel free to send it to me
offlist.  Even if I don't have any particular response
to, or even interest in, something posted here, as
some of you may have learned the hard way, I do look
out for others when it comes to information, not to
mention ideas.  People well offlist notice when I'm
not active, 'cos they're not being deluged with
byproducts.  Which they tend to appreciate, by the
way.  So, on behalf of an anthropologist friend ...
