Not all "African American scholars" work in the field of "African American
Studies". (That'd be a false assumption on your behalf, but I accept that
you misstated yourself.) And not all those who work in the field of "African
American Studies" are "Afrocentrists", as Paul noted.
This is all pretty straightforward.

p.s. It does seem to be the case, however, that to qualify as an
Afrocentrist scholar or writer, in Shirley Walker's terms at least, you
must be African or African-American.
