It's not a matter of coming to any particular person's
defense as it of pointing out the gang mentality that
takes hold of a bunch of youse guys (and girls, maybe
even men and women, but ...) from time to time, and
commenting on the lapses in reason, accuracy, and
simple decency that tend to result.  This time around,
having noticed the slowburn fuse from/to Doug and
Robert already in ignition for, what, weeks now?, I
simply stopped reading anything from either, and
responses thereto, in any earnestness.  But I do scan
(for my name, for instance ...).  Had something
caught, if something catches my eye that I have a
little (or even a big) something to say about, I'll
say it.  Gershom, for example, is a complex figure
here, evoking an entire history of black(face or
otherwise) figures, but, for example, no matter how
much latitude he has under Pynchon's Washington, he
is, nonethless, UNDER him.  But I've yet to get 'round
to the rereading here, been busy with other matters,
so ...
