I think it's like a clockwork diorama-type replica of the battle which
Zsuzsa puts on as a show.

So Dixon is here chiding Mason for his inconsistency in discounting Zhang's
speculations while being so concerned himself over the delayed social and
cosmological effects of the English Calendar Reform.

And I'm quite interested in the discussion of celestial events on 631-2, as
well as Zhang's comments about the "strange inconsistencies" in the Biblical
data, and about Dionysius Exiguus, or "Dennis the Meager, as *we* know him"
as Mason (unattributed) says.
