  I'm between novels at the moment, and we leave tomorrow for a weekend in St. Louis to watch the Cards beat the Cubs.  Need to read something in my spare moments, and I'm undecided (I've narrowed the competition): Margaret Atwood's _The Handmaid's Tale_ or Philip Roth's _Operation Shylock_??

  Which would you recommend, people?
