I'm in agreement with Otto here. I meant 'no crazier' but 'just as crazy'
shifts the emphasis in a way I don't object to. Under pomo nothing has much
reason for being thought any better than anything else. Which is OK with me if
it's not carried too far.

You're not saying are you that Pynchon's aim is to counter religious belief of
the  Fundamentalist Chirstian  type. I feel certain these people were never in
any way his target audience.  Actually P has been accused (back when GR came
out) of writing for the God-hungry younger generation of America, but that is
something completely different from what you refer to as the America of strong
religious beliefs and bonds.  America is a very diverse country and never the
twain shall meet. Or might they?
