this sounds.....well, anybody know anything about it?

Gould's Book of Fish: A Novel in 12 Fish by Richard Flanagan (Grove,
$27.50): "Truly the most unique novel I can remember reading. Based on
the life of a real-life prisoner who was also an artist--and drew the
fish illustrations that are used in this book. He was a scoundrel,
thief and rogue who is taken under the wing of the penal colony's
doctor. The book is beautiful; it's a treat to open it. Each chapter
is written in a different color, because the prisoner, Gould, had to
make his own ink out of whatever he could find, so each chapter's ink
changes depending on what he had to use to create the ink. I'm a fast
reader but I had to slow down and savor this fascinating, magnificent
novel."--Kevin Howell
