Yeah, I bet Pynchon just happened to pick America's hot-button political
dynasty by coincidence, with no thought to the way he's used the same name
in GR or elsewhere in his texts. We can indeed  judge its use as
"gratituitous", given the depth of our understanding of the author's
intentions.
