Richard Flanagan

The other day somebody posted part of a Michiko Kakutani essay from the
June 10th NY Times.  

In looking at the full articvle I see that she heaps praise on Richard
Flanagan's "Gould's Book of Fish."  

Since I have been burned by the opinions of Kakutani in the past, I'd
like to hear the opnions that Pynchon fans have of the work of Ricard
Flanagan.
