The Leo Baeck Institute

The Institute (http://www.lbi.org) is a research, study and
lecture center whose library and archives offer the most comprehensive
documentation for the study of German Jewish history. Founded in 1955, it is
named after the leading liberal Jewish religious thinker of his time, the
rabbi who was the spiritual leader of German Jewry during the Nazi period.
The LBI is located in the heart of downtown New York City, near Union Square
and is a constituent of the Center for Jewish History, a partnership of
five major institutions of Jewish scholarship. The combined collections and
professional staffs of these five institutions create an unparalleled
resource for the comprehensive study of modern Jewish history.
