It's a joke, I suppose, which perhaps an astronomer might get without 
looking it up. 'Via Galactica' (The Road Made of Milk) was the ancient Roman 
name for what we now know as the Milky Way. Galactica, I'm thinking, would 
therefore mean 'made of milk', which is in itself a pun (maid of milk) as 
well as allowing yet another astonomer's joke into the mix.
