<< Obviously, quite a few people on Pynchon-L like the idea of discussing
current events, with or without an explicit connection to something Pynchon
has written, apparently understanding how Pynchon's texts embrace so much
of the world in which we live, and sharing Pynchon's political critical
stance . Equally obvious, a small handful of people, when they aren't
engaging in the same thing themselves, appear to want to stop others from
engaging in this sort of conversation >>

The point you seem so intent on missing is that you're in no way engaged in a
discussion. You cut and paste other people's opinions to the list, most
often without comment. And these cut-and-pastes are rarely other than
entirely predictable, often tedious and banal, and beat home a point of view
we're all familiar, adding little in the way of factual content.

No one is stopping a conversation; there is in this no conversation.
