One can ride a mountain bike along the Pynchon surveyed line across
Long Island--that is, from world famous Jones Beach (the area surveyed
by William Pynchon) all the way to Cold Spring Harbor--past P's house.
One passes through Indian Lands along the way--these are now parks and
museums. It's the best North South trail on Long Island. You could also
walk or run it or ride parts of it on a road bike, skipping the trails
where you would need a mountain bike.
