in reading just the few pages of V. i get the impression that P. is trying
to get across the futility of findng solace or companionship in inanimate
objects? or is there something lying much deeper with in the surface?

also, i would like to get a thought or two on what y'all think of Hilbert
just barely getting in his special theory of relativity just days short of
einstein. that obviously means that, of course they were working on it
together, one was to have immortal fame for it. could this be P.'s way of
shining some light on an unsung hero? i doubt it....i am just trying to
start a conversation. i live in a drab-ass town. indulge me. thanks much.
anybody?
