Thank goodness for that!

Now what?

It began with a simple question by Otto about Slavery. KWP gave a
simple, if not very helpful answer: read Weber's PE&SC. I asked KWP,
"what has PE&SC to do with slavery and if Weber takes up slavery in that
famous book. KWP said something about Sin and Catholicism and
Protestantism. I replied in kind with a muddled and wrong-headed and
mostly incorrect post. You came running to the pit with your rifle and
shot at my barrel of trout. The point you made at the middle of your
post was the only one that was worth making. Her is what you said,

One should bear in mind when speaking of Protestantism that it is not a

I said I was OK with your corrections and that what you said was true. I
know the book real well MalignD. Really I do. But I was not so
comfortable with your sniping and so I bitched about it and I played
around with you and entertained you. I did not make a spectacle of
myself and I have no regrets because this is the Pynchon List. This is
the list where a sagacious old man like yourself advises young eggheads
not to waste their time. Not bad advice.
